Patch Point is pleased to invite Moritz Simon Geist for a full weekend in Lisbon, and invites you to share it with us, completely free of charge.
Presenting a concert at SMUP in Parede and a robotics workshop in our store in Rua da Voz do Operário, Moritz will accompany us on a journey through his symbiotic work, which draws on robotics and expresses itself in music.

Moritz Simon Geist has been working in the fields of multimedia art, robotics, electronic music and performance for 12 years.
He is classically trained in piano and clarinet and was a scientific researcher at the Fraunhofer institute and more recently taught at the Clives Davis institute
His focus is on the extension of the robot as a creator rather than as a final product.
Moritz creates robots that produce sound and movement, not through sound synthesis, but through physics and mechanics.
His research focuses on the physicality of sound and how robots can become an extension of our creativity through algorithms.
His machines don't produce sound but rather movements that operate instruments, which then themselves produce sound through the principle of action-reaction.
The work he will present at SMUP is a version of Tripods, a performance that explores the interaction between humans and robots through electronic music. The robots here work as musicians in an ensemble orchestrated by Mortiz.

Alpha Decay is a french live sound engineer and DIY modular synth addict based in Barcelona.
Well known in the Barcelona's modular underground scene, she plays live performances with her modular system, sometimes flying to a ravy electro techno noisy punchy sessions, she also loves to collaborate with others electro or acoustic musicians and to play for dance performances.
Her music is always inspired by the proper moment and vibes, even a replayed track never sounds the same depending on the moment and the audience energy, that's why she found in modular synthesizer the best companion ever to surf the sound waves together.

Andi Toma is one of the founding members of Mouse on Mars, one of the most influential, iconic and versatile electronic music projects produced in Germany and perhaps in the world.
His career began in '93 and he has produced 20 albums since then, as well as collaborating with such notable names as Mark E. Smith, Stereolab, Lee Scratch Perry, Junior Boys and Moondog, among others.
Currently based in Berlin, and with a body of work that is very difficult to catalog by genre, his most recent work has focused on dub, footwork, sampling and hip-hop dissidents.
On this night he will be performing as a DJ and you can expect nothing but everything from him.

Moritz Simon Geist tem desenvolvido trabalho nos campos da arte multimédia, robótica, música electrónica e performance há 12 anos.
Tem formação clássica em piano e clarinete e foi investigador científico do instituto Fraunhofer e mais recentemente lecionou no Clives Davis institute
O seu foco é na extensão do robô como criador e não como produto final.
Moritz cria robôs que produzem som e movimento, não por síntese sonora, mas através da física e mecânica.
A sua pesquisa debruça-se na fisicalidade do som e como que os robôs se podem tornar numa extensão da nossa criatividade através de algoritmo.
As suas máquinas não produzem som mas sim movimentos que operam instrumentos, e que por sua vez, produzem som por meio do princípio de ação-reação.
O trabalho que apresentará na SMUP é uma versão do Tripods, uma performance que explora a interação entre humanos e robôs através da música eletrônica. Os robôs aqui trabalham como músicos de um ensemble orquestrado por Mortiz.
