PT Em Fevereiro de 2023, recebemos o músico e artista Rival Consoles para duas semanas de residência artística, partilhadas entre a Patch Point e a Rua das Gaivotas 6. A música de Ryan Lee West é reconhecível pela forma como alia elementos clássicos de composição musical à criação de ambientes e atmosferas envolventes, numa mestria da síntese modular.
Integrado nesta residência, West irá conduzir um workshop de sintetizadores na Patch Point, dia 11 de Fevereiro. O workshop destina-se a todes es que tenham interesse em explorar tal método de composição musical, mesmo não tendo conhecimento prévio do mesmo.

𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 O produtor londrino Ryan Lee West, mais conhecido pelo nome Rival Consoles, é notável por fazer com que os sintetizadores pareçam humanos e atmosféricos. Ao longo de uma carreira de quinze anos aclamada pela crítica, a música de Rival Consoles diversificou-se desde a desafiante produção electrónica dos seus primeiros EPs até se tornar gradualmente mais conceptual e metamórfica, como em Articulation (2020), onde utilizou desenhos e esboços para imaginar e desenvolver cada faixa, até Overflow (2021), onde explorou as consequências humanas e emocionais de um presente rodeado por tecnologias avançadas de comunicação. Foi louvado por plataformas como Pitchfork, The Guardian, CRACK Magazine, Vice, Resident Advisor, Loud and Quiet, Electronic Sound, The Line of Best Fit, Spin, Tape Op, XLR8R, Music OMH, Clash, FACT, The Ransom Note, Stamp The Wax, Truants e Louder Than War. Rival Consoles actuou também nos Tate e para a Boiler Room no Museu V&A, com visuais auto-programados em Max/MSP, o que o impulsionou para tocar em festivais como Sónar, Moogfest, FORM, Mutek, Big Ears, Lovebox e Roskilde. ________________________________________
EN In February 2023, we welcome musician and artist Rival Consoles for a two-week artistic residency, shared between Patch Point and Rua das Gaivotas 6. Ryan Lee West’s music is notable in how it combines classical elements of musical composition with the creation of immersive atmospheres and ambiences through the mastery of modular synthesis. As part of this residency, West will conduct a synthesizer workshop at Patch Point on February 11th. The workshop is intended for anyone interested in exploring this method of musical composition, even if they have no prior knowledge of it.

𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 London-based producer Ryan Lee West better known under the name Rival Consoles, is notable for making synthesisers sound human and atmospheric. Over the course of a critically acclaimed fifteen-year career, Rival Consoles’ music has diversified from the challenging electronic output of his early EPs to gradually become more conceptual and metamorphic, such as Articulation (2020) which used drawings and sketches to imagine and develop each track, to Overflow (2021), which explored themes of the human and emotional consequences of life surrounded by advancing technologies including social media. Across multiple projects he has gained praise at Pitchfork, The Guardian, CRACK Magazine, Vice, Resident Advisor, Loud and Quiet, Electronic Sound, The Line of Best Fit, Spin, Tape Op, XLR8R, Music OMH, Clash, FACT, The Ransom Note, Stamp The Wax, Truants, Louder Than War. Rival Consoles has performed bespoke performances at the Tate and for Boiler Room at the V&A Museum featuring self- programmed visuals in Max/MSP, has propelled him to play around the world including appearances at music festivals such as Sónar, Moogfest, FORM, Mutek, Big Ears, Lovebox and Roskilde.
