Cycles2
Cycle2 packs three modules into one: a precision 1V/Oct voltage-controlled LFO (up to 300 Hz), a comparator, and a voltage-controlled AD envelope generator.
The module provides four simultaneous outputs. Three are fixed waveforms — Sawtooth, Pulse with PWM, and a classic 50% Square — all running at a unipolar 0–8 V range for modulation and reliable clocking duties.
The fourth output is where things become especially flexible: a continuously variable mix of sine, triangle, and sawtooth waves. Its dedicated Level CV input dynamically controls the mix output, enabling animated timbral movement and evolving modulation shapes. A front-panel switch selects either bipolar operation (−4 V to +4 V around zero) or unipolar operation (0–8 V), making the output equally suited for audio or modulation tasks.
The sawtooth waveform can instantly switch between rising and falling slopes, the Reset input re-syncs the LFO phase on demand, and the Gate input can start or stop oscillation for tightly controlled rhythmic behaviour.
The built-in Comparator transforms Cycle2 into a powerful utility for rhythm extraction, pulse generation, and signal shaping. It features dedicated + and − inputs together with a threshold control, allowing incoming voltages to be sliced, compared, and converted into sharp gate signals with extreme precision.
The threshold potentiometer is internally routed to the −input, so with a single signal patched into the +input, the comparator instantly becomes a flexible voltage detector and pulse extractor. From turning LFOs into clocks to generating rhythmic triggers from complex modulation, it opens up a huge range of creative patch possibilities.
A manual push-button switch adds immediate hands-on control, letting you set gate signals directly from the panel. Perfect for live performance or manually triggering events.
Whenever the voltage at the -input exceeds the voltage at the +input, the output drops to zero, creating crisp transitions ideal for logic-style patching, timing applications, and dynamic modulation control.
The voltage-controlled AD Envelope Generator gives Cycle2 its dynamic, performance-driven character. It can operate either as a classic single-shot envelope or as a continuously cycling modulation source.
The envelope can be triggered externally for precise, repeatable articulation. In Run-mode, the AD generator loops endlessly, transforming into a powerful variable-shape modulation oscillator.
For stable and predictable behaviour, retriggering is intelligently managed: during the Attack phase, the envelope ignores new trigger signals, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted rises without glitches or unwanted retriggers. The result is a clean, musical response with consistent timing and contour, even in complex patches or fast trigger sequences.
